Compare 2 images?

Postby Bogus Exception » Thu Jul 30, 2015 4:45 pm

Hi!

I could have swore I read (http://stackoverflow.com/a/304486/5154418 as an answer to my very question, almost) that AForge could take 2 images in, and give a score as to how well they matched... Is this wrong?

The idea is this: I make graphs (simple scatter plots), and I want to compare one now with ones from before-maybe even comparing now to a merge/sum of previous images. And we're talking about tiny, 100px square images.

The point is, I was wondering if AForge only recognizes patterns it is shown (circles, polygons, etc.) as the docs say, or is there any likelihood it can compare 2 images?

Hello,

It can not compare two images. You can get a difference between two images of the same size, which may give some indication of how similar the images are. But there are no any sophisticated template matching algorithms implemented.
With best regards,
Andrew

Your post saying it can not compare two images is several years old now.

Is it still true that the latest exhaustive template matching cannot compare two images in any sophisticated way?

From the documentation it sounds like it's a simple pixel to pixel comparison.

Nothing has changed since then. Still true.
With best regards,
