Capturing higher-res still images from webcam

Postby Baskineli » Wed Feb 01, 2012 7:49 am

Hello,

As you probably know, most modern webcams have two modes, one mode is for video streaming (usually 640x480x30fps) and the other for still image capturing, which is of a higher resolution (2M-12M).

I have managed to show the streaming video in my C# application. However, what I need is not to capture an image from the live streaming (640x480), but to get the higher-resolution still image (in my case, 5M).

How can I do it?

Thank you,

- Eli Baskin.

Hello,

First you need to check SnapshotCapabilities property for your camera and see if it provides list of supported snapshot resolutions. If does, then you may try using SnapshotFrame event and SimulateTrigger() method.
With best regards,

Hi Sir,
I am using 21MP Web camera for document scanning using AForge.
I need to document scan using High Resolution(4096*2160).
But video lagging is continuously happening using AForge.(Video frame not running smoothly)
Is there any way using AForge?

Thanks,
Ganesh
