Can VideoFileSource play multicast stream ?

Postby mbullock976 » Thu Jan 11, 2018 11:55 am

HI

Can someone please tell me if the Accord.Video.FFMpeg VideoFileSource can play back a video using a multicast stream address please?

e.g

rtp://@239.255.0.1

this is the address I can use via VLC media player to play the stream

PS. it works fine is I use a rtsp://localhost:8554, but I don't know how it handle multicast address

Thanks

Hello,

Just try it and see what happens.

When it was AForge.NET Framework, the FFMpeg.VideoFileSource was actually supposed for video files on local storage device, not on network. But you are talking about Accord.NET now, which is a different framework. It is based on old AForge.NET, but is developed separately. So you better check with the Accord.NET guys.
With best regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew

Thanks for your reply.

I got it to work :-), I did some research online regarding ffmpeg and joining multicasting and noticed the urls they were using were udp

I changed the url to be as follows:

udp://239.255.0.1:5004

and now it works :-)
